Back in 2008, my husband at the time and I were long-haul truck drivers, looking for a way to come off the road. Drop shipping was all the rage, and with nothing more than a Verizon hotspot and a lot of determination, we jumped in.
From the cab of our ’08 Kenworth, we launched TruckinTreasures.com. I personally uploaded more than 2,500 products, convinced this was going to be our ticket to financial freedom. In our minds, it was simple: build the site, wait for the orders, and change our future.
We launched with excitement, anticipating the flood of sales that would come while we slept. Spoiler alert: none came. Day after day, nothing. Our first call to a so-called “professional” ended with empty promises and wasted money. Thousands of dollars later, we realized that buying traffic wasn’t the answer.
The dream of easy online income had crashed. But in its place came something more valuable: the hard-earned lesson that if I was going to succeed, I had to understand how websites really worked.

When TruckinTreasures failed, I wasn’t done — I was determined to figure out why. That curiosity led me into affiliate marketing and, eventually, deeper into SEO.
Affiliate marketing is basically selling other people’s products for a commission. Sounds simple, but to make it work you need more than links — you need websites, content, and strategy.
I learned the hard way that you can’t just throw products on a page and expect success. Each product line needed its own space, its own story, its own website. That realization became the foundation of my website-building skills.
